The Birth of RockVine
In 2023, along with his lifelong friend Mark Irvine, Steve Brocklesby co-founded what would eventually become RockVine. Initially operating under a different name, their business quickly gained a reputation for producing exquisite polished concrete and river resin tables, that combined artistry with functionality. However, the journey was not without its challenges. Disaster struck on New Year's Eve 2024 when a catastrophic flood in the Stockport area submerged their entire factory under five feet of muddy water.

The flood could have marked the end of Steve's dream, but instead, it became a turning point. Forced to pause and reflect, Steve and Mark decided to rebrand their business, emerging from the disaster with renewed determination and a new identity: RockVine. The name itself, a blend of their surnames, was born out of a moment of serendipity. While clearing debris from the flooded factory, they discovered two items that became symbolic of their journey: a lump of dirty old rock and a tabletop with vines burnt into it. The rock turned out to be a massive piece of natural quartz, and the tabletop was saved and transformed into Mark's office desk.
Artisan Craftmanship
At RockVine, Steve's role as an artisan furniture maker is central to the company's ethos. His approach to furniture making, such as river resin tables or polished concrete tables, is deeply rooted in traditional craftsmanship, yet it is infused with innovative design principles. Steve believes in the power of storytelling through furniture, where each piece carries a narrative of its own. His work often features intricate carvings, natural elements, and a harmonious blend of form and function into his artisan concrete furniture.
Steve's commitment to sustainability is evident in his choice of materials. He sources wood from responsibly managed forests and often incorporates reclaimed materials into his artisan furniture. RockVine specifically works with material suppliers for concrete tables and resin tables that can minimise the impact on the environment. Steve's meticulous attention to detail ensures that every handmade table that leaves the RockVine workshop is a testament to quality and enduring beauty.
