On New Year’s Day 2025, severe flooding affected a number of independent businesses at the Meadow Industrial Estate in Stockport, including RockVine’s manufacturing workshop. Rising water levels from the nearby River Tame led to widespread disruption across the site and forced many units to close temporarily while damage was assessed.
For RockVine, the impact was significant. Tools, materials and in-progress furniture were affected, bringing production to an unexpected standstill. Rather than cease trading, the business entered a short period of operational hibernation while alternative premises were explored and recovery plans were put in place.
While the early months of 2025 were defined by uncertainty for many small manufacturers in the area, the period also created an opportunity for reflection and long-term planning, ultimately shaping the next chapter of the RockVine workshop.
A Period of Reset and Reassessment
During the temporary operational pause, RockVine used the time to review and strengthen the foundations of the business rather than simply wait to reopen. Workflows, supplier logistics and internal processes were reassessed with a focus on long-term resilience and efficiency. The period also allowed for a refresh of the company’s digital presence and cost structure, ensuring that production would restart on a stronger footing. Product ranges were reviewed and operational flow refined to support future growth. Key focus areas included: - Workshop workflow efficiency - Operational costs and supplier logistics - Website structure and customer journey - Core product range refinement What began as disruption ultimately became a structured phase of planning and improvement — laying the groundwork for a more focused relaunch.
Securing New Premises and Expanding Capacity
In June 2025, RockVine secured a new 6,000-square-foot workshop in Greater Manchester, enabling full production to resume and providing room for expansion.
The new space allowed for improved layout, upgraded machinery and a more efficient operational flow. The move marked more than a restart — it created the opportunity to broaden product capabilities and operate at a higher level of organisation and scale than before the floods.
Relaunch and Renewed Momentum
RockVine’s public relaunch later in 2025, including an appearance at Grand Designs Live at Birmingham’s NEC, helped reintroduce the brand to a national audience and generate renewed industry interest.
The event provided a timely platform to showcase updated product ranges and the rebuilt workshop capabilities. Following the relaunch, production gathered pace and customer demand steadily returned, signalling a confident new chapter for the business.
RockVine Today
Today, RockVine operates from a fully rebuilt and expanded workshop, delivering bespoke furniture projects across the UK with renewed focus and improved efficiency. Current highlights include: - 6,000 sq ft purpose-organised workshop & showroom - Expanded polished concrete, timber and resin ranges - Streamlined production workflows - Nationwide delivery capability - Continued investment in tools and machinery The business now operates with greater resilience, capacity and clarity than before the 2025 disruption.
