This guide highlights the decisions that protect the outcome — before you choose finishes.

Span, stiffness and vibration

A long table must resist flex and vibration under everyday use. Structure is a system: tabletop build + reinforcement + base geometry + fixing strategy.

Ask early: will people lean, stand, drag chairs, run cables, or use integrated power modules?

Base placement and legroom

Base position must protect end seats and mid-span usability. A beautiful base can still fail the room if it steals knee space or forces chairs outward.

For long tables, consider multi-point supports that keep the footprint clean while delivering stiffness.

Sectional builds and site access

At 5–7m, access often becomes the governing constraint. Specify how the table arrives: single piece, two sections, or modular assembly.

Confirm lift sizes, stair cores, tight turns and floor protection — and plan installation sequencing accordingly.

Materials and performance

Concrete, live edge timber and resin can all work at scale when engineered correctly. Material choice should follow the brief: visual language, wear behaviour and maintenance expectations.
