Finish control is the difference between a good project and a stressful one. ‘Grey’ is not a specification — it’s a starting point.

Here’s how designers lock a predictable outcome for bespoke tables.

Specify the finish outcome (not just the material)

Define colour family, undertone, texture (smooth/softly mottled), and sheen level (matte/satin).

Where lighting is critical, approve under similar conditions to the final environment.

Use sample packs and approvals

Sample packs allow you to confirm the finish direction early. For multi-piece schemes, they become the reference standard.

Once approved, we build within that finish window so the scheme stays coherent.

Set tolerance windows for natural materials

Timber is naturally variable. Specify acceptable character — knots, grain movement and tonal range.

For resin, define clarity and tint so the ‘river’ behaves as intended within the interior palette.

Avoid common pitfalls

Avoid late-stage changes after approvals — they create programme risk and inconsistency.

Ensure every stakeholder understands the approved reference: client, contractor and installer.

If you’re working to a deadline, tell us your target dates — we can prioritise sample approvals so you can keep momentum.
